How much do wedding photographers cost?

Average cost of a wedding photographer in Puglia

What is the cost of a wedding photographer in Puglia? A seemingly simple question, but I can assure you it’s far from easy to answer, because the price depends on many factors. In this article, I will try, nonetheless, to give you a rough idea.

I’ll start by explaining the types of services that can be requested for a wedding photography package, which, of course, have a significant impact on the final price. Take a look at my F.A.Q. for further information about this.

One professional wedding photographer or two?

The first factor to consider is whether you want the event covered by a single photographer or by two professional photographers. Personally, in most cases, I prefer to have an assistant with me, although there have been several occasions where I’ve handled the entire wedding photography alone.

In this case, the choice also depends on the photographer’s decision, not just the couple’s. For example, if the wedding has a large number of guests, and/or the couple wants photos of both partners getting ready, it goes without saying that having a second photographer is practically essential.

How many hours would you like to book the photographer for?

Typically, the photographer is requested to be present for the entire event. However, not all weddings have the same duration. For example, consider an elopement, where there is no party planned, just an intimate dinner for the couple with very few or no guests. Additionally, it’s also possible to decide, for instance, not to include photos of the getting ready part.

Photography only, or also videography?

This is the main factor that can completely change the cost of the service. Even in this case, you can choose between having a single videographer or two professional videographers. The same considerations mentioned earlier for choosing between one or two photographers apply here as well, since not all weddings allow coverage by just one person.

Where is your wedding venue?

If the wedding venue is a long distance from where the photographer is based, extra travel fees may be charged.

Do you want to book any extra service?

Every photographer usually offers extra services. For example, I offer analog photography, Polaroids, photo albums.

So, what is the average price of a wedding photographer in Puglia?

Considering all of this, you can see that it’s very difficult to give a definitive answer to this question.

For a typical package—with two photographers, up to 10 hours of coverage, and no additional services—the cost usually ranges between €1,500 and €2,200, depending on the photographer’s popularity (though popularity doesn’t always equal skill). If you also want video coverage under the same conditions, the total cost rises significantly, typically falling between €2,800 and €4,000.

As mentioned earlier, these are just rough average prices. For luxury weddings and highly sought-after photographers, costs can be much higher. On the other hand, photographers with a simpler style or lower demand may charge less than the amounts listed here.

Some tips...

One tip I’d like to share is not to focus solely on the cost of the photography. Even a few hundred euros can feel like a lot these days, but remember: the photos of your special day will last a lifetime.

Also, don’t rely entirely on the internet. A photographer’s popularity doesn’t always match their actual skill.

Go with your gut. Of course, the budget matters, but first and foremost, choose a photographer whose style speaks to you. And don’t overlook the personal connection—on your wedding day, you need to feel comfortable and at ease with the person behind the camera.
