Sammie and Jordan’s engagement photoshoot took place in Monopoli, a city I deeply love for its vibrant energy and endless charm. The couple, both from the United States, are set to marry next year back home, but wanted to celebrate their love with a special trip to Italy beforehand.
For this pre-wedding photoshoot in Puglia, I didn’t stick to a single location. At first, I focused on getting to know the couple, letting their personalities shine naturally, and capturing the spontaneity of the moment with beautiful reportage-style shots through the city’s charming alleys.
Since the day was particularly warm, we stopped at a historic center bar for a quick aperitivo. During my engagement sessions, I always encourage couples—especially international ones—to include moments like this, as they add a genuine touch of Italian life to the photos. For more insights on this, check out my dedicated article on the topic.
After the aperitivo, I decided to take advantage of the golden hour—the hour before sunset—to capture shots at Monopoli’s Old Port, a truly cinematic open-air setting. The warm, embracing light gave the photos a poetic tone. This is the best time for photography, as the low sun creates a soft, gentle light.
To conclude this couple photo session in Monopoli, we headed to the city’s cathedral square. Here, I experimented with a “creative motion” technique, intentionally capturing the couple slightly blurred to add dynamism and a unique touch to the images.
As a wedding and couple photographer in Monopoli, I would be thrilled to tell your love story in this beautiful southern Italian city. Visit the contact page for more information.
