Valeriano Milo

Photographic style

My name is Valeriano Milo and I am a english speaking photographer based in Puglia. I often provide photography services in other regions of Italy and abroad, telling the story of the most important day in many couples’ lives.

I am essentially a reportage-style wedding photographer. My first rule is discretion—striving never to be intrusive and to follow the natural flow of events. Over the years, however, I have progressively incorporated elements of artistic photography too. For me, capturing emotions is crucial, but it is equally important to pay close attention to light management and image composition. In this way, I create authentic and elegant visual stories.

I am the co-founder of the photography and videography studio Mavis Wedding Studio, which you can see here. Through my studio, I can also manage the videography side of a wedding, thanks to the collaboration with a professional videomaker.

Biography

My passion for photography dates back to my childhood, when I first became curious about my father’s analog camera—a vintage Fujica from the 1970s. It’s a camera I’m particularly attached to, and one that I still own and happily use today.

Life, however, led me in a different direction for a while, perhaps because my pragmatic nature made me doubt that photography could be a financially sustainable career. I therefore pursued academic studies, earning a degree in advertising communication, graphic & web design.

My passion for foreign languages led me not only to travel, but also to live abroad—first in Lisbon and then in Dublin. As a result, I have an excellent command of both English and Portuguese, and I also speak Spanish, although less fluently.

I later entered the tourism industry, where I worked for several years with major multinational companies. It was during this time that my passion for photography came knocking again. I then began a parallel course of study in photography at the “Bottega Immagine” school in Milan, where I had meanwhile moved. Shortly afterwards, I started working as a photographer on weekends, while continuing my job in tourism.

For a period of time, I also assisted several wedding photographers to strengthen my technical skills and gain hands-on experience. Around 7–8 years ago, I finally decided to completely change my life. I left my career in tourism and fully committed to becoming a professional wedding photographer.
